Note: In 2021, the quota has been applied to VSRP and VS internship programs due to the pandemic conditions. KPV-LAB will accept interns for the period after September 2021, based on the KSA regulations. The applications are on the "Join Us" page based on the available projects. The selected students will be invited to an interview for further evaluation.

Before applying for the internship, please double-check if you meet the conditions: • No visa restrictions for the country of origin. • No travel restrictions in place for students country of departure • No home university restrictions (some countries are not allowing their UNDG/GRAD students to leave for internships (e.g. Sweden, and Singapore))

Important to note: at this time, in order to allow onboarding, new incoming visiting students from abroad are required to be fully vaccinated as per one of the below: • 2 doses of Pfizer BioNTech • 2 doses of Oxford AstraZeneca • 2 doses of Moderna • 1 dose of J&J/Janssen vaccine

KSC Summer School and Internship

The KSC Summer School Internship Program aims to attract talented master or final-year undergraduate students considering a research career addressing the challenges of solar energy conversion.

KSC offers stipends that cover travel and accommodation, as well as a living allowance.

Awardees will attend the KSC Summer School as announced on the KSC Website.

After completing the summer school, participants can then put their skills to use during an extended stay as an intern with a summer research project in the world-class KSC laboratories from July to September.

The application period starts in February of each year. (In 2020 and 2021 Summer School could not be organized due to the pandemic conditions)

To apply for this program, applicants should have the following criteria

  • Completed a minimum of their third year of baccalaureate studies OR completed their baccalaureate (Bachelor’s degree) OR be pursuing a post-baccalaureate (Master’s degree). Currently enrolled KAUST students, KAUST Alumni, students who are currently in a PhD program or those who have earned a PhD are not eligible to participate.
  • A cumulative grade point average (GPA) that exceeds 3.50 /4.00 ( 14/20: Equivalent to ECTS B) with some research projects requiring a 3.60 or higher.
  • Demonstrated English reading comprehension, speaking, listening and writing abilities.
  • Official academic transcript(s) or a certified translation if the original transcript(s) is not in English from current and previous institutions.
  • The recommendation of a faculty member in the field of study from current and previous schools of enrollment.
  • Valid passport.

The Visiting Student Internship is an opportunity for exceptionally qualified international baccalaureate and post-baccalaureate students to conduct research with faculty mentors in selected areas of basic and applied research projects. The duration of the program ranges from between four and six months, depending on the research project.

To apply for this program, applicants should have the following criteria

  • Completed a minimum of their third year of baccalaureate studies OR completed their baccalaureate (Bachelor’s degree) OR be pursuing a post-baccalaureate (Master’s degree). Currently enrolled KAUST students, KAUST Alumni, students who are currently in a PhD program or those who have earned a PhD are not eligible to participate.
